Someone, a good friend actually, paid my to make them some baby gifts for two of her friends. What!?! Me, you want to give me money to do something I like to do!! Um...yes please! So to the store I went. I have to admit the stress for picking fabrics was a bit more challenging. I mean I had no idea who these people really were. One I met briefly but I can hardly say that I nailed her taste of fabrics in an hour encounter over 4 years ago. But I loved what I picked and got the "OK" from my employer. And this is what I created...</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">Boy</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/TAXxkOVGtuI/AAAAAAAAAaI/fcMwvyCcryI/s1600/IMG_2585.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/TAXxkOVGtuI/AAAAAAAAAaI/fcMwvyCcryI/s320/IMG_2585.jpg" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">Girl</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/TAXxvY-zVZI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/F0WQML9NOjY/s1600/IMG_2584.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/TAXxvY-zVZI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/F0WQML9NOjY/s320/IMG_2584.jpg" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">I just loved these fabrics. Had I even known how cute the fabrics at my local quilt shop were I would have just made my own baby crib set for my son. As much as I love target it just isn't that specific to our taste or his personality! But live and learn, next time I'll be sure to make something extra special for ourselves as well.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><br />

We are broke! Yup, who isn't at this stage of life. A spouse full-time in school, raising small children, trying to have somewhat of a normal 20 something social life and still trying to embody the things you believe all while being prudent! Not you, ehh! But perhaps one of my greatest struggles is paying for medioccur food that I coul probably make better at home. Now, let me say that this is not a food I can make "better" at home. But I can make it, free of cost (almost) and it tastes just as good....well it's more than good enough.<br />
<br />
We love Indian food! Who doesn't. So to really test my cooking skills I decided to make Chicken Tikka Masala. Now Garam Masala really is just a combo of some normal spices. If you wanted to be thrify you could attemp to make it. But I figure I want to get the right portions. So I splurged and bought a few spices. Let's be honest, it was a pretty penny...like $15 for about 4 different spices but I figure now I can make some indian dishes at least a dozen times. I found a great recipe that was so simple and not too messy.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">The results we're this...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S-LofQfaJEI/AAAAAAAAAVg/hLjQnPS6lmg/s1600/IMG_2290.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S-LofQfaJEI/AAAAAAAAAVg/hLjQnPS6lmg/s320/IMG_2290.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">( Photo: Served with plain basmati rice.) </div><br />
DOesn't this photo just make you salvatate all over your keyboard!! Head the call of that grumbling stomach and try it. I'm a bit lazy today so to find the recipe check out the<a href="http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/06/chicken-tikka-masala-by-pastor-ryan/"> Pioneer Women</a>. Enough said right! You know it will be great!<br />
<br />
For a vegetarian version just gently steam (grill, boil etc) some potatoes and cauliflower and substitute it for the chicken. We cook every week with some youg women from church and they are vegitatirans and still loved it. It will be your Aloo Gobi Masala!!<br />
<br />
Note: If possible, season the veggies as you would the chicken to give it extra flavor. I think on the grill, boiling or saute would be best!Sweet Novemberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447943876598785108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763829132400666150.post-42028583366461878202010-04-25T14:09:00.000-07:002010-04-25T14:09:59.070-07:00Break-FAST<span style="font-size: small;"></span><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">I'm convinces that somewhere some time long ago women came up with this word Why? I just love to plan parties and make events special for people. So for this shower I wanted to make a topper cake. So after a bit of research I had a hunch that the bride loved purple and I was right. Not only that she said this cake actually looked almost exactly like what she picked out for the wedding. So kudos to me. I just wish I could have been there to enjoy the festivities. But as events happened I couldn't. But I'm glad to know there were good laughs, good food and great company!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">So Congratulations to Melinda and Mark!! You're one lucky fella. Oh and in this case B was for Bride and the initial for her new last name!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />

<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S70r0rUuJQI/AAAAAAAAAS4/spnPN5ztnXs/s1600/IMG_2020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S70r0rUuJQI/AAAAAAAAAS4/spnPN5ztnXs/s400/IMG_2020.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">And i know what you're thinking but I'm not the only one in this world with a LOVE for butter!</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">So a few weeks ago I got into a baking kick. I just had to have fresh loaves or bread, cupcakes and yummy treats at any given moment. But perhaps one of my favorite treats, and a healthy one at that, is my Zucchini Bread recipe. I received it from a dear friend from my last church I attended. If it wasn't enough all she taught me I scored a delicious recipe too!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Hope you enjoy!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />

<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Remember how I had been banished from the kitchen table, well...I kinda pulled a fast one on the hub and snuck out the machine!! "How could you?" right? What could have been so important that you would go against your promise to your husband, this...</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5waki3NORI/AAAAAAAAAOw/iiPhY0gOPnc/s1600-h/IMG_1972.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5waki3NORI/AAAAAAAAAOw/iiPhY0gOPnc/s320/IMG_1972.JPG" width="214" /></a></span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Not the girl silly, although she is cute! But how about the darling champagne </span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">BOLERO!!!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Yes! I made it! I cannot even believe it myself. And to add to the aww and splendor of it all it's even lined!!! So, not that I'm a tutorial pro or have even done one before I took a couple photos to document my journey.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 1: Pattern- The patterns on the internet weren't too great and I wasn't about to pay for one. So I measured myself and took an old church shirt...</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wh6e43uAI/AAAAAAAAAO4/N1sQiS1Fbbs/s1600-h/IMG_1916.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wh6e43uAI/AAAAAAAAAO4/N1sQiS1Fbbs/s320/IMG_1916.JPG" /></a></span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"></span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">and turned it into this...</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wiOTCb2gI/AAAAAAAAAPA/4vu1ULlQytw/s1600-h/IMG_1918.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wiOTCb2gI/AAAAAAAAAPA/4vu1ULlQytw/s320/IMG_1918.JPG" /></a></span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
Step 2: The Fabric- This was a remnant from the skirts my bridesmaid wore at our wedding. So it was only so much fabric and a certain length to work with. But its 100% silk and I just couldn't part with it. </span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 3: Prep- The fabric had half pleats that I decided to just sew it down and give it a more polished look.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">BEFORE </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wi8v5qaMI/AAAAAAAAAPY/wMNp_3LYXN8/s1600-h/IMG_1923.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wi8v5qaMI/AAAAAAAAAPY/wMNp_3LYXN8/s320/IMG_1923.JPG" /></a></span></div><div class="" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">AFTER </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wisiC0vfI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/Kw_Oa990bOQ/s1600-h/IMG_1922.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wisiC0vfI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/Kw_Oa990bOQ/s320/IMG_1922.JPG" /></a></span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 4: Sewing the pattern together loosely, hand-stitched, to make sure the fit is flattering.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wjIc1sR8I/AAAAAAAAAPg/EswCPcH4DbE/s1600-h/IMG_1955.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wjIc1sR8I/AAAAAAAAAPg/EswCPcH4DbE/s320/IMG_1955.JPG" /></a>Step 5: Cutting- You, and by you I meant me, get one shot here. I only had this limited fabric piece for this project so I needed to be very precise. Measurements are ideal!! ;o) </span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Note: I cut out two of each piece, one of the silk and one of the lining.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 6: Sewing- Enough said! But I did switch my needle to a thinner needle to prevent snagging int he silk.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 7: Ruffles- I got lucky and remembered I had the original belt from this skirt which was approximately 5 feet long. I simply sewed about a 1/2 inch from the edge and gathered it to my desired length.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 8: Pinning- Very important to give that polished and neat look.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 9: More sewing- One last stitch around the edge of the bolero to close up my seems.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">Step 10: Gloating!!!- And lots of it. "I did it I did it!!" Oh and how about my adorable little apprentice tailor!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wjVOL_rtI/AAAAAAAAAPo/FeZ79ojfoJ0/s1600-h/IMG_1946.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S5wjVOL_rtI/AAAAAAAAAPo/FeZ79ojfoJ0/s320/IMG_1946.JPG" /></a></span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;">"Sew" there you have it... my adorable new bolero, which I so graciously have parted with temporarily to the cute model above. This entire project came from the fact that she had the perfect dress to wear for her best friends wedding. She is the Best Man! Cute right!?! Anyhow, there was a need and I thought " Bring it on"! The best part is I still have one of the original skirts from the wedding in its full length. Something tells me I'll be getting myself and adorable campaign silk dress soon! </span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />

Over at <a href="http://madebyrae.blogspot.com/">Made by Rae and</a> <a href="http://www.dana-made-it.com/">Made</a>, Mom's across the states, even globe, have been <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/celebratetheboy/">Celebrating the Boy</a>!! With that on occasion these ladies host picture blocks of creations that catch their eye. Well who would have thought my little creation got selected, no doubt because of my adorable little model!!! And if that weren't neat enough, it happened twice. Once for the 90 minute T and the second for costumes.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />

</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"> So as an amateur baker I had no problem at cooking things till they were hard as a rock. However, this has proven more challenging when my efforts are intentional. Non the less I found a suitable recipe for teething biscuits. Although over time they did in fact start to soften and bend. But then again I didn't have the maple syrup the recipe called for. So I used molasses instead. I think an extra 10 minutes in the oven would have done the trick.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Now that being said this was my second batch, the first being a completley different recipe. But I believe the first recipe I got didn't give enough emphasis on how sticky the "dough" would be. Live and learn.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><b>Basic Teething Biscuit aka 3 Cup Biscuit</b></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1 cup juice ( I used apple, but I think fresh grape would be yummy)</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1 cup rice cereal</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1 cup flour</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Mix till combined. Roll out of floured surface, cut out and bake on un-greased sheet for 1 hour at 350 degrees.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Note: This dough is very sticky. It would help to add enough four till the dough doesn't stick to the bowel. Then kneed it until its smooth adding enough flour as you go. Roll to about 1/4 inch in thickness and avoid sharp edged shapes!</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><b>Donut-Shaped Teething Biscuits</b></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1 1/2 cups flour</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1/2 whole wheat flour</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">1/2 cup maple syrup ( I used molasses)</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">3 tbs. apple sauce</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Preheat oven to 300. Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl and mix with a wooden spoon until they just come together. Dust counter and knead until smooth, around 3 minutes.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Roll with a rolling pin until 1/4 inch thickness. Invert a round glass and cut out circles in the dough. Cut out a circle in the middle (I used a baby bottle cap and just took out the nipple)</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Transfer the cookies to a greased cookie sheet and bake until barely browned (around 35 minutes). Let them cool completely on the sheet overnight to get very hard.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Note: As I used molasses instead my biscuits were naturally a bit ore brown in color. I baked them for 30 minutes but they could have used another 10 minutes.</div>Sweet Novemberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447943876598785108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763829132400666150.post-47156508598593287592010-02-24T20:38:00.000-08:002010-02-24T20:38:50.035-08:00Lemon Bars<span style="font-size: small;"></span><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">So I could write a very detailed entry about this fiasco of lemons but I'll make it short. My husband told me we needed 100 cookies for a church function at 9:30pm, after I had already been to the store and picked up dinner. Since I had been gone for over an hour I just wanted to eat and figured, ok I'll just make something. So after a spoiled attempt at a double batch of lemon bars and a somehow flattened batch of chocolate chip cookies I headed to bed. In the morning I just couldn't live with the lemon bars. So I rushed home after church and whipped up another double patch. PERFECT!! Anyway, when I arrived at the church my husband asked me if I put the food with the rest of the snacks " What other snack?" </span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Let me say briefly I was not a happy camper, neither was my husband when I was done with him, when I entered the room and found over 4 13x9 pans of cake, boxes of cookies, 6 gallons of juice and 2 huge buckets of ice cream. I lost sleep to be out done by boxed cake!!! You have got to be kidding. So being the big person I am, I avoided the event and silently set up all the desserts and drinks neatly across the tables.</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">In the end I learned never to trust my husbands estimates and ended up wit ha great lemon bar recipe! And that is what I will gladly share with all of you!! ENJOY!!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Note: These bars are nice and lemony. For lovers of lemon you might want to add maybe a tablespoon or two more of juice. Be sure to add a couple pinched of flour to accommodate the extra juice. If you barely like a lemon taste make it 6 tablespoons of juice and 4 tablespoons of flour. </span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: small;">Yummy Lemon Bars</span></b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4X-fpEU7vI/AAAAAAAAAOY/fEhWFN1H96c/s1600-h/IMG_1215.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4X-fpEU7vI/AAAAAAAAAOY/fEhWFN1H96c/s320/IMG_1215.JPG" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />

It was inevitable. I mean no dinner for a week, no table to sit at and no verbal communication, I was asking for it. So its to the closet for me! But don't feel bad because its a HUGE walk in closet. And a very important detail, the lighting in the closet is actually way better that the dining room. I won't go into details. So until the Crafting catacomes are complete I will sadley be on sewing/crafting hiatious. But to document this transformation here is some of the project under way.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4CGAKpbzOI/AAAAAAAAAMY/qKfpN9MbPcw/s1600-h/IMG_0631.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4CGAKpbzOI/AAAAAAAAAMY/qKfpN9MbPcw/s320/IMG_0631.JPG" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4CGJ_33BpI/AAAAAAAAAMg/IpXw9we5_Fs/s1600-h/IMG_0626.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4CGJ_33BpI/AAAAAAAAAMg/IpXw9we5_Fs/s320/IMG_0626.JPG" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Needless to say there is a lot of stuff in there. I've made some progress and gotten rid of all the old moving boxes and just reorganized. We'll be putting in a desk below where all the skirts are pictured. The desk I got used but it needs a bit of TLC. It's great with a few large and deep drawers for fabric and a couple thin ones for thread and other small stuff. Now just find me an extension cord and I'm in business!!</div>Sweet Novemberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447943876598785108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763829132400666150.post-33606632512199715082010-02-20T16:56:00.000-08:002010-02-20T16:56:15.134-08:00Refashion: Remnants<span style="font-size: small;"></span><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">I hated the thought of wasting the remnants of that black ribbed tank. So I thought to myself, what about a <a href="http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/07/tutorial-90-minute-shirt.html">90 minute shirt</a>! Awesome! But lets be honest, I'm not always the best listener. Instead of using a plain t-shirt I thought one of my stretchy shirts would do fine. WRONG! That in combination with sewing my shirt inside out, then the envelope the wrong way, well it became a 2 mess!</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">But I had a mission, the shirt must not defeat me. So I did the one thing no man on earth could do...I followed the INSTRUCTIONS! And who knew 90 minutes (+/- 15 min.) later I had a cute little shirt for my West.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4CDSy3BneI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/y6PVNU_890k/s1600-h/IMG_1206.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S4CDSy3BneI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/y6PVNU_890k/s320/IMG_1206.JPG" /></a></span></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Now although this took a little longer than expected, I learned a lot. Like for me being a new mom, I really didn't have tons of old onsies lying around to cut up. So I just made a pattern off of one. Which didn't turn out too bad. But a side note, MEASURE YOUR CHILD FIRST!!! Or else you end up with sleeves that are too short, narrow sleeves or with what I call my 90 Minute Baby Muscle shirt. My boy does have a little extra to love so this little chub probably won't get more that a couple weeks out of this shirt. Guess will save it for baby #2!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"></div>Sweet Novemberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447943876598785108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763829132400666150.post-31855497451266297292010-02-19T17:28:00.000-08:002010-02-19T17:28:15.899-08:00Sleep Sack<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Our little guy is gettign so big and has become quite the wiggler. So each morning his feet are freezing because he has wiggled off his socks and kicked off all his blankets. And since his little Christmas sleepsack is a bit outgrown, in fashion and size, I decided it was time to sew. So I made my very first sleep sack! Tell me what you think!</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">Although its not my favorite print ever it was on sale. I got some fleece in a matching turquoise too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S385RRixVkI/AAAAAAAAALg/-XKX7LwpXH8/s1600-h/IMG_1180.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S385RRixVkI/AAAAAAAAALg/-XKX7LwpXH8/s320/IMG_1180.JPG" width="213" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">Not to shabby on the zipper, considering I had practice from halloween.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S385clbM47I/AAAAAAAAALo/NxggxpBrRtw/s1600-h/IMG_1181.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S385clbM47I/AAAAAAAAALo/NxggxpBrRtw/s320/IMG_1181.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">And of course to protect my little guy from scratchy zipper edges! Although it's not done yet I thought I'd share the before shot. The previous owner thought the color was great. But like most knits, just kept scrunching up to high. Not flattering. You'll have to wait and see what it becomes!! </div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />

And afterbeing inspired on the web I decided to make something, new that is, of the once staples to my wardrobe</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />

So I kept it simple with an idea I spotted on the internet. I'll have to update when I get that address, I just couldn't find it! But aren't they cute? I changed mine a bit and fashioned the colors to look like the conversation hearts! And what's inside..candy of course! But the only way to get it is to break a few hearts!!</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S381SowumeI/AAAAAAAAALA/HY-qI0VbfX4/s1600-h/IMG_1090.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S381SowumeI/AAAAAAAAALA/HY-qI0VbfX4/s320/IMG_1090.JPG" /></a></div>Sweet Novemberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447943876598785108noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4763829132400666150.post-39913995792230997202010-02-19T17:08:00.001-08:002010-02-19T17:08:12.035-08:00A lovely idea<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">Lately I have been on the biggest sewing kick! Just ask my husband. We haven't seen our kitchen table or living room floor in about a week. But that is just a sacrifice I've been willing to make.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">So here was one idea...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S38z5ir06RI/AAAAAAAAAKo/k6oSHCsOQ3Q/s1600-h/IMG_1018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S38z5ir06RI/AAAAAAAAAKo/k6oSHCsOQ3Q/s320/IMG_1018.JPG" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">Then the assembly line...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S380F7QE4uI/AAAAAAAAAKw/VqMBF4ILILM/s1600-h/IMG_1019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S380F7QE4uI/AAAAAAAAAKw/VqMBF4ILILM/s320/IMG_1019.JPG" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;">And the finished product...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S380P1BofuI/AAAAAAAAAK4/kCY5i2RFeYA/s1600-h/IMG_1051.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OFObviAtcoo/S380P1BofuI/AAAAAAAAAK4/kCY5i2RFeYA/s320/IMG_1051.JPG" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />

But like I said I'm catching up and revamping! So my friend has since had her little boy but I just loved taking her maternity shots with a few friends. I only hope I can score a few shots of her son for a baby shoot!</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />

And we didn't even need safety pins to keep them on!!</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br />

Here are to the yummy homemade individual chocolate bunt cakes that <a href="http://thelifeofrccola.blogspot.com/">RC Cola </a>made for my baby shower, to<a href="http://rachelplusjacob.com/index.php"> R+J</a> who made me the most beautiful quilt and to <a href="http://jeremyandjanelle.blogspot.com/">Mama J</a>, the one who got and has kept me on the sewing bandwagon. So these baby legs were for my little guy. I actually made them when I was still expecting but I think I did a darn good job considering sewing is a fairly new adventure for me.
